Philosophy
Simply put, there is a need, and therefore a market, for Mac OS X training and education. This operating system is dramatically different from anything anyones ever put out. TackyShirt wants to take the intimidation out of moving over to this new OS.
Books are currently the most effective method of getting technical info out to the masses but theres a missing component. Its hard to capture the dynamic environment of computer training without showing the material in action. Video allows the pupil to better understand how everything interacts. Most people prefer to see a demonstration instead of reading a description.
Were not saying that print is dead by any means. There will always be books to teach you how to use your computer. There are several great ones that cover Mac OS X, but there are a lot of people out there who dont like to read. Even more of them dont like to read technical material regardless of how well its written.
Most education involves a live teacher who brings the material to life. Talented educators are available from several companies to put on a live seminar; you usually have to pay dearly for their expertise. Most seminars, regardless of content or audience average $250 - $500/person/day. The average Mac user doesnt have $1,500 available to pay for a 3-day seminar to teach them how to use their system. This means only corporations can really use live seminars.
There are a few videos available but most of them are expensive, incomplete, and drab. Video training usually costs from $130-$1300 per seminar at the professional level. Professionals seeking to expand their knowledge typically find that even the more costly videos are usually too superficial to make it worth the expense.
We at TackyShirt have the way around these issues. First of all, content is not a problem for us. Our team is involved with the most cutting edge aspects of Mac OS X and Mac OS X server. If there is a new way of working with or on these products, we already know about it, or we will by the end of the day.
Any Macintosh user can afford our training. Sixteen hours of material
means we have the equivalency of a 3-day seminar packed into a self-paced
DVD bundle. Theres very little reading required. All the material
is presented to you. Anyone familiar with Bob, Andy, John, and Shawn
will tell you that these guys are filled with high-quality information.
TackyShirts job is to make sure all this affordable and useful
information is entertaining to boot |
